The annual Case Competition kicks off next Tuesday [April 14] at the high schools and Wednesday [April 15] at the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington. Nearly 30 teams from Ballard, Chief Sealth and Franklin High Schools are participating this year.
The case is a Harvard Business Review case on Apple. Working with UW Foster School mentors, student teams will prepare and present their analysis based on the following charge statement:
Your role is to act as consultants hired by Apple’s executive management team as they plan their strategy for 2009. The firm faces challenges including competition from companies such as Microsoft and HP, a downturn in the global economy, and the possibility of shifting consumer preferences. Has the firm established a sustainable strategy? What can they do to continue to increase sales and further grow their market share? Which business line offers the greatest potential for future sales? Where is there opportunity for growth?
The final presentation at the UW will begin on Wednesday at 9am in the Haggett Cascade Room. Any questions about the event should be directed to Kim and/or Jessica.
